Identity: XCARET

This photoshoot is titled Xcaret, the chosen category is identity. My muse for this concept is my close friend Xcaret, I wanted to highlight and focus on her identity through a black and white lens. After a 6-year friendship, it is easy to forget and miss parts of those who are important in our lives. Within this project I allowed Xcaret to be the creative director and take the lead, after spending days with her I was able to capture parts of her personality that further developed the representation of her identity. The use of black and white as my main source of filter came with making the images more intense and mysterious, the monochrome look enhanced the focus on my subject rather than the surrounding distractions. Overall, throughout these 10 series I was able to capture vulnerable and sensitive moments that were spontaneous yet a representation of my friends' individuality in a safe and comfortable environment.
